Evacuation Zone: A closer look at the Forsyth Fire

Evacuation orders went into place on June, 19th as the Forsyth fire burned its way to Pine Valley, Utah. They stayed through the following week just to be lifted about seven days later. 13 homes were burned, but hundreds saved.

Media crews were not let into the destruction zone, but we did get access that many others couldn’t get. We were kept in a small area that included a fire station and a Post Office - a small shed structure with a community bulletin board that advertised upcoming 4th of July Festivities.

The area known for its horseback riding, cattle and cooler temperatures burned along the mountainsides. The valley saved by volunteer firefighters and others from around the country.
